Kelly Osbourne Opens Up About Troubled Past: I Wanted The Drugs ‘All To Myself’

23 Jul

Kelly Osbourne is all about speaking her mind and her latest interview with Cosmopolitan U.K. is no exception.

Gracing the publication’s September 2013 issue, the Fashion Police host opens up about her past drug addiction and how her mother, Sharon Osbourne, even had her placed in a padded room in order to help her kick the habit.

“I’ve been to rehab seven times and to two mental institutions. My mum even had me put in a padded cell once to scare me, but like a brat I just sat it out until she said, ‘Well, that’s not going to work’,” the 28-year-old tells the magazine. “But what I’ve learnt is that no amount of therapy or medication is going to work unless you want it to. Until you want to be a good person, you will never be one.”

She explains, “I was never one of those people who was like, ‘Let’s party; let’s go and do loads of coke.’ In fact, I would never even tell anyone I had drugs because I wanted them all to myself. I was quite selfish.”

Speaking candidly about the moments that made her want to turn her life around, Kelly says that she realized she needed to change after taking care of her sick her parents.

“When I was 18, I was set to play Lindsay Lohan‘s best friend in Freaky Friday. Then my mum got diagnosed with cancer. I was faced with the choice of a career or spending what could have been the last days of my mother’s life with her,” she says. “I said, ‘F**k you, career, hello, Mother’. I became my mum’s nurse 24/7. I thought I was going to lose her – it was awful.”

And after her dad, rocker Ozzy Osbourne, had an accident on his all-terrain vehicle in 2003, Osbourne remembers how she care fro him: “He couldn’t move from the neck down and was basically a paraplegic, so I slept on the floor by the side of his bed for four months. I brushed his teeth and washed his clothes, and every day we’d put on our swimsuits and I’d shower him.”

“Not many people can say they’ve wiped their mother and father’s arses more than they’ve wiped their own,” she adds.

Miley Cyrus Defends Her Haircut in This Week’s Top Celebrity Quote

16 May

In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, Miley Cyrus defended her controversial haircut in a way that was both slightly poignant and probably offensive. Here’s what she said:

Everyone said I was a lesbian [after doing it] but I’m like, ‘Being a lesbian isn’t a bad thing. So if you think I look like I’m a lesbian, I’m not offended. You can call me much worse I’ve been called much worse. Being a lesbian is a compliment more than what else they call me.

Okay.

That was just one of the more memorable quotes heard around Hollywood (or, fine, Canada) over the last seven days. In the gallery, above, hear more from Beyonce, Bryan Cranston and Kristen Wiig in this week’s celebrity quotes roundup.

Wentworth Miller: ‘I Tried to Kill Myself’ Before Coming Out

1 Feb

After coming out in an open letter, Prison Break star Wentworth Miller has opened up about the demons he faced keeping his sexual identity a secret, revealing he attempted suicide when he was a teenager.

“The first time I tried to kill myself I was 15,” he said during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign Seattle Gala Saturday. “I waited until my family went away for the weekend and I was alone in the house, and I swallowed a bottle of pills.”

“I don’t remember what happened over the next couple of days, but I’m pretty sure come Monday morning I was on the bus back to school, pretending everything was fine. And when someone asks me if that was a cry for help, I’d say, ‘No.’ You only cry for help if you believe there’s help to cry for. And I didn’t need it, I wanted out.”

The actor said, in a video obtained by TMZ, “Growing up I was a target. Speaking the right way, standing the right way, holding your wrist the right way. Every day was a test and there were a thousand ways to fail, a thousand ways to betray yourself, to not live up to someone else’s standards of what was accepted, of what was normal.”

The 41-year-old also went on to say that he had many opportunities to come out after hitting it big on his FOX series, but chose not to “because when I thought about the possibility about coming out, and about how that might impact me and the career I worked so hard for, I was filled with fear.”

In August, Miller came out and identified himself as a gay man in a letter declining an invite to the St. Petersburg International Film Festival, rejecting the offer due to the country’s anti-gay laws and insisting that he cannot participate in an event held at a place where “people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”

What do Snooki, Jessica Simpson and Kylie and Kendall Jenner all have in common?

Besides their history with reality TV — all four ladies have at one point or another shouted cheers from the bleachers, the field or on top of the pyramid, with pom poms in tow.

As San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens fans across the country count down the last hours until kick off, Celebuzz is taking a trip down memory lane — and in some cases, right into some stars’ yearbook pages.

Long before she took home the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild (and come Feb. 24, maybe Oscar?) for Best Actress, Silver Linings Playbook star Jennifer Lawrence donned a cheer outfit for Kammerer Middle School as a seventh grader in Louisville, KY.

Before making her mark in the soap opera world and eventually, the Live! stage, Kelly Ripa cheered for Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees, New Jersey.
