The end of a hit show, a major ad campaign and a wedding. For Blake Lively, 2012 was all about major beginnings and endings.
In June, the Gossip Girl actress — who ranks 18th on Celebuzz’s Hollywood Power Index — was named as the face of Gucci’s new fragrance, Gucci Premiere. The luxury retailer approach the star due to her “extraordinary beauty” and love of fashion.
“Although she’s young, she’s also very determined,” Gucci creative director Frida Giannini said last year, “and I liked this spirit … She knows how to be a diva in the right sense, with an aspirational glamour.”
Days after celebrating the launch of the fragrance at the 2012 Venice Film Festival, the actress wed her Green Lantern co-star Ryan Reynolds, 35 on September 9, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The pair — who met on the set of the 2011 superhero flick — made a major leap in their relationship three months prior to the nuptials. The couple invested in a country home in Bedford, N.Y., estimated to be worth up to $2 million — the same price Lively’s hubby spent on her oval cut diamond, roughly 12 ‘carat total weight’ wedding ring.
Just a day after the hush-hush ceremony, it was business as usual for Lively. Returning to the New York City set of Gossip Girl that Monday, the star shot scenes for the sixth and final season of the series that made her a household name.
As the saying goes, when one door closes another opens. As the actress proved in Oliver Stone‘s Savages, she can do much more than just play the privileged Serena van der Woodsen. Take it from her co-star, Salma Hayek:
“It was really fun to work with someone so professional, and so smart and with a director [Oliver Stone] who gave us so much space to really create and be apart of it,” the actress told Celebuzz. “But also, when you are with a lot of boys it’s great to have a sister, you know, to be there with you.”
