Star Wars: 5 Reasons A Yoda Spin-Off Is A Bad Idea

Yoda smash

Yoda is arguably the most famous Star Wars character ever conceived. Known for his idiosyncratic talking style and small green stature, the little guy has always acted as a kind of inspiration for movie fans everywhere, and is legitimate proof that size isn’t necessarily a good indicator of power (in Star Wars, at least). He’s also pretty hilarious, because despite having once been the head of the prestigious Jedi council, he steals Luke Skywalker’s dinner and just, like, laughs about it.

Yesterday, Disney announced that – along with J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode 7 – they’re planning several spin-off movies set in and around the Star Wars universe. With characters like Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt rumoured to be getting the ol’ single film treatment (Jabba being a character that George Lucas has apparently been pitching to Disney for some reason), cinema’s most famous… uh, whatever species Yoda is… is also apparently set to take centre-stage.

These are the “secret projects” that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg presumably signed up to work on away from the J.J. Abrams-helmed new trilogy, and although the idea of even more Star Wars movies is kind of exciting (especially since the TV series never came into being), we’re still not sure that Yoda is exactly the right kind of character to get his own spin-off. Here’s 5 reasons we think that Star Wars: Yoda is a bad idea.
