In today’s perfect casting news, Lionsgate has announced that four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore will join the cast as President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 & 2, the two-part feature finale to the blockbuster adaption of the best-selling Suzanne Collins trilogy.
For those who aren’t familiar with the series, Coin plays a crucial part in Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) rebellion against the Capitol.
And for those unfamiliar with Moore, just know that she’s the right fit for this role.
Rumors of Moore joining the cast first surfaced in June.
Other newcomers to the film franchise include Natalie Dormer as as Cressida, Evan Ross as Messalla, and Stef Dawson as Annie Cresta. Returning principals include Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson among others.
The franchise’s second film, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, hits theaters Nov. 22. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay will be split into two movies, with the first opening on Nov. 21, 2014, and the second on Nov. 20, 2015.
