Prince William On His Son: ‘We’re Still Working On A Name’

12 May

A day after giving birth to her son, the Duchess of Cambridge left St. Mary’s Hospital in London alongside Prince William and the heir, bundled in a blanket.

Just like his parents did in 1982, William showed his family off briefly before they left in a car for Kensington Palace.

Earlier, both sets of grandparents popped over to the Lindo wing for a visit. Carole Middleton gushed about her grandson, calling him “absolutely beautiful,” and telling the press that the first cuddle was amazing, according to the BBC‘s Peter Hunt.

The Prince of Wales was equally as delighted about his son’s new child, hinting to the press that all three would be out soon enough.

“Wait and see, you’ll see in a minute,” Prince Charles told reporters when he left.

Hospital staff joined the crowds behind barricades before William and Catherine came out to answer a few questions. Catherine was visibly moved by the outpouring of excitement. Her Royal Highness appeared to fight back tears as people cheered on her new family.

William told members of the press that he and his wife were “still working on a name,” while he held his son.

“He’s got her looks,” William said endearingly, and noted that he had “a good pair of lungs on him, that’s for sure.”

“I’ll remind him of his tardiness when he gets older,” William joked, acknowledging that Baby Cambridge was a wee bit overdue.

Afterwards, Will snapped his son in the carseat then hopped in the driver’s seat of a Range Rover en route to Kensington Palace.

‘The Duchess Diary:’ Royal Baby Names And The Pride Of Great Britain

29 Apr

We are besides ourselves – beside ourselves, I tell you – waiting for Baby Cambridge to pop into the world.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray made Great Britain burst with pride (a hard feat, getting the Brits to show emotion) by winning his first Wimbledon title, and “Union Jack Man” Terry Hutt grabbed a prime seat outside St. Mary’s Hospital this week.

What say you on royal baby names, friends? I’m thinking Alexandra for a girl, and George for a boy.

It’s a great time to be a complete and utter Anglophile.

While Catherine and Prince George are tucked away at Bucklebury Manor, the Duke of Cambridge attended the Anglesey Show in Wales. There, he thanked everyone for being so welcoming, and bid farewell to the place he and Catherine called home for the past three years.

Moment of Then: Prince William’s Official Public Debut

2 Oct

Yesterday, the world experienced yet another day of Royal Baby fever when Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped outside St. Mary’s Hospital in London to officially introduce their newborn son to the public.

Watching the images unfold on television, it was hard not to recall the day when Prince Charles and Princess Diana did the exact same thing for a then-little William, right down to the polka-dot dress that Diana wore for the occasion. The world was just as captivated by the Royal Family then as they were just a couple of days ago, making it clear that the traditions and sheer spectacle of it all isn’t something that will likely die down anytime soon.

Whether that is a good or a bad thing is a whole other topic. But for little Baby Cambridge, at least, his story has officially begun, much like his father’s did on June 22, 1982.

Get To Know Your Celebrity Blabbermouth: Katrina Darling

Katrina Darling Celeb Blabbermouth

With world political leaders and celebs like President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and famous Brits Harry Styles and Ellie Goulding sending their congrats to Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William on the birth of week-old baby boy, Prince George, it only seems fitting Katrina Darling should, too.

Wait, Katrina, who?

Well, for (the many) who’ve never heard of her, Katrina is the Duchess’s distant cousin, who hopped on the 15 minutes bandwagon just before her commoner-turned-princess relative became betrothed to Wills in 2011.

The kicker: She’s never even met her cuz, but still feels she needs to share some sage advice to their newborn prince: “I wish both mother and baby a safe journey and congratulate them on the next big adventure and new challenges in their lives,” she told Page Six. “And to my fellow Cancerian Prince, I say spend your life exploring every inch of it, learn all there is to know, explore yourself and find out who you are!”

Those wise words come from experience, considering the British-born 22-year-old is known for exploring her wild side as a unroyal-like raunchy burlesque dancer (but dons crown pasties to cover up), and continues to do her family name proud by taking it all off (gasp!) for Playboy.

But when we say distant, the royal relationship is pretty f-a-r – turns out Kate and Katrina are… take a deep breath… second cousins, once removed, with her grandmother Jane Darling being the sister of the Duchess’s great-grandfather Thomas Harrison (now that’s a mouthful.)

And this isn’t the first time she’s spoken up about her semi-royal connection. Katrina’s cashed in on her fetish modeling, given her take on Prince Harry‘s nude Las Vegas pics and admitted that it would be “awkward to meet Kate” (um, you think!?)

Well, if Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog can offer their well wishes on the special royal delivery, Katrina’s in good company.

It’s A Boy For Prince William And Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton Is Pregnant! ***FILE PHOTOS***

After hours of labor, the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy, born at 4:24 GBT on July 22nd, 2013. The heir to the British throne weighs a hefty 8 lbs, 6 oz.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & families have been told and are delighted,” Clarence House tweeted. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”

Prince William was present for the birth of his son, just as Charles was in 1982 and 1984. He will spend the night with his wife and son.

The Prince of Wales spoke of his elation at becoming a first time grandfather, according to CNN‘s Max Foster.

“Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild,” Prince Charles said. “It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.

“Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months,” he added.

The baby follows Charles and William in the line of succession, respectively.

Sky News royal correspondent Paul Harrison reports that Catherine did not have a c-section. The Sun tweeted that Dr. Marcus Setchell (who led the delivery team) said to members of the press that baby was “wonderful” and “beautiful.”

As soon as HRH was born, Kensington Palace sent a press release to members of the media. This was a last minute addition to the planned modes of announcement, which include a declaration posted to Buckingham Palace’s gates, and a notification via social media.

As planned, medical staff signed a bulletin containing the baby’s gender, weight and other information (no, not a name). A press officer then brought the notice down to a waiting car, where it was escorted to Buckingham Palace. And, in the grand tradition of pomp and circumstance, said notice was posted on a wooden easel by the gates for all to see.

This has been tradition for the announcement of royal babies including Prince Harry, Prince Edward, Prince Charles and Peter Phillips.

Tweets went up ahead of the Buckingham Palace declaration, despite confirmations to the contrary. Tomorrow, a 41-gun salute will go off in Green Park, followed by a 62-gun salute at the Tower of London.

Baby and mother are said to be doing splendidly (I sounded very British there, didn’t I?).

Journey To Royal Baby: Kate Middleton And Prince William’s Couple Timeline

14 Aug

Kate Middleton and Prince William have hit yet another milestone in their fairytale relationship.

On July 22, the husband-and-wife duo welcomed a healthy 8 lbs, 6 oz baby boy at the Lindo Wing of London’s St. Mary’s Hospital on 4:24 PM GBT, the same place where the royal baby’s father was born just 31 years ago.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & families have been told and are delighted,” the official office for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Clarence House, tweeted. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight.”

Like all the residents in the Commonwealth, William’s dad Prince Charles – a first-time grandfather – was thrilled by the birth announcement.

“Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild,” he told the press. “It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.”

“Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months,” he added.

The royal couple first announced that they were expecting their first child together in December 2012. They are expected to make their first post-birth appearance in the coming week.
