‘Diana’ UK Trailer: Naomi Watts Plays the People’s Princess in a Bittersweet Love Story

25 Jul

Naomi Watts Channels Princess Diana On Set

The UK trailer for Diana has been released, according to NBC News.

It’s a story of man meets woman – only she was the most famous woman in the world.

In the first full-length trailer for the upcoming biopic Diana, Naomi Watts takes audiences into the private life of publicly-admired Diana, the Princess of Wales, as she fell in love with a heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Kahn (Naveen Andrews), in her final two years.

“He doesn’t treat me like a princess,” Watts’ Diana confides in friend. “It’s almost as if he doesn’t know who I am.”

But Diana’s passionate love affair with the Pakistani doctor – which followed her exit from the royal family, when she divorced from Prince Charles – was doomed, crippling under public scrutiny and pressure from his conservative Muslim family. The romance ended just before Diana’s death in a paparazzi-chased Paris car crash in 1997.

Diana is scheduled to open Sept. 20 in the U.K., but there is still no official U.S. release date.

Awww: Prince Harry Enjoyed A Cuddle With His Nephew, Prince George

25 Jun

Tonight, Prince Harry attended the unveiling of photographer Chris Jackson’s Sentebale exhibit at the Getty Images gallery in London. The Sentebale – Stories of Hope Exhibition showcases images by Jackson of Sentebale’s work helping the vulnerable children of Lesotho. Harry is a patron of the organization.

The now fourth-in-line royal talked to reporters about his nephew, HRH Prince George of Cambridge, and the nice cuddle they enjoyed at Kensington Palace on Tuesday night.

The prince joked to the Daily Mail‘s Rebecca English that he hopes the Duke and Duchess know “how expensive” his babysitting fee is, and vowed to teach Prince George how to have fun. In addition to that, Harry said he wanted to make sure that George has a “good upbringing” and wants to help keep the little one “out of harm’s way.”

The rest, Harry said, he’ll leave up to the parents.

FACT: Pippa Middleton Wore Underwear At The Royal Wedding

11 Jun

As she knelt down to fix her older sister’s train outside Westminster Abbey, Pippa Middleton managed to achieve global superstardom without saying a word.

Facebook pages were dedicated to Middleton’s pert derriere and even Justin Bieber couldn’t help but compliment a job well done. For Middleton had managed to secure a spot on the world stage while simultaneously allowing Duchess of Cambridge her day in the sun.

In the run-up to April 29th, 2011, Middleton was a Pilates On The Go devotee, and even wrote a testimonial on the Fulham studio’s website thanking them for the gift that keeps on giving.

“As someone who is always ‘on the go,’ Pilates has been a wonderful escape from my busy lifestyle in London,” Middleton wrote, according to the Daily Mail. “Whether it’s 7am in the morning or 7pm at night, I always leave feeling calm, refreshed and invigorated. Over the past few months I have noticed a huge difference in my core strength and posture and couldn’t recommend Margot more highly as an instructor.”

For months after the wedding, women wanted to know exactly how to get a rump like Middleton’s, flocking to the nearest plastic surgeon with pictures of the bridesmaid in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen column gown.

Today, Grazia revealed that Middleton wore undergarments by London-based lingerie brand, Beautiful Bottoms. Which design the Bucklebury native selected is anyone’s guess, although I’m guessing it was neither the ruched model nor the “Oriental Bird” print (I’m not entirely sure that “Oriental” is a term one should be using in the 21st century).

Disclaimer: Wearing Beautiful Bottoms does not a pert bottom make. Get thee to a Pilates studio.

Prince William On His Son: ‘We’re Still Working On A Name’

12 May

A day after giving birth to her son, the Duchess of Cambridge left St. Mary’s Hospital in London alongside Prince William and the heir, bundled in a blanket.

Just like his parents did in 1982, William showed his family off briefly before they left in a car for Kensington Palace.

Earlier, both sets of grandparents popped over to the Lindo wing for a visit. Carole Middleton gushed about her grandson, calling him “absolutely beautiful,” and telling the press that the first cuddle was amazing, according to the BBC‘s Peter Hunt.

The Prince of Wales was equally as delighted about his son’s new child, hinting to the press that all three would be out soon enough.

“Wait and see, you’ll see in a minute,” Prince Charles told reporters when he left.

Hospital staff joined the crowds behind barricades before William and Catherine came out to answer a few questions. Catherine was visibly moved by the outpouring of excitement. Her Royal Highness appeared to fight back tears as people cheered on her new family.

William told members of the press that he and his wife were “still working on a name,” while he held his son.

“He’s got her looks,” William said endearingly, and noted that he had “a good pair of lungs on him, that’s for sure.”

“I’ll remind him of his tardiness when he gets older,” William joked, acknowledging that Baby Cambridge was a wee bit overdue.

Afterwards, Will snapped his son in the carseat then hopped in the driver’s seat of a Range Rover en route to Kensington Palace.

‘The Duchess Diary:’ Royal Baby Names And The Pride Of Great Britain

29 Apr

We are besides ourselves – beside ourselves, I tell you – waiting for Baby Cambridge to pop into the world.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray made Great Britain burst with pride (a hard feat, getting the Brits to show emotion) by winning his first Wimbledon title, and “Union Jack Man” Terry Hutt grabbed a prime seat outside St. Mary’s Hospital this week.

What say you on royal baby names, friends? I’m thinking Alexandra for a girl, and George for a boy.

It’s a great time to be a complete and utter Anglophile.

Prince George To Be Christened At The Chapel Royal, St. James Palace

25 Mar

The Duchess of Cambridge looked radiant (lustrous locks and all) as she held her new son outside St. Mary's Lindo wing on July 23rd, 2013.

Kensington Palace announced today that HRH Prince George of Cambridge will be christened at The Chapel Royal, St. James Palace on Wednesday, October 23rd.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby will perform the private service.

According to royal reporter Victoria Arbiter, Princess Beatrice, Lord Frederick Windsor and his sister, Lady Gabriella Windsor were all christened at The Chapel Royal.

Both Prince Charles and Prince William were christened in Buckingham Palace’s music room. Prince Harry was christened at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. According to Arbiter, the Queen was christened in a private chapel inside Buckingham Palace, while her father’s took place at Sandringham.

It’s understood that Prince George will wear a replica of the original Honiton lace and satin christening gown created for Queen Victoria‘s eldest daughter in 1841, worn by Queen Elizabeth, William and other members of the current royal family. However, it was deemed too delicate to be worn again after Lady Louise Windsor‘s 2004 christening, so The Queen then had a replica commissioned for future use, according to HELLO!

Th night before her funeral at Westminster Abbey, Diana’s casket rested in The Chapel Royal.

‘Diana’ Poster Placed at Paris Crash Site was a “Coincidence”

16 Mar

Diana Movie Naomi Watts Blue Sapphires

It was discovered that a movie poster advertising Diana was placed near the entrance to Place de l’Alma, the Parisian tunnel where Diana, Princess of Wales died in a 1997 car crash.

A friend of Diana’s told the Daily Express that poster’s proximity to the tunnel was “despicable and a shameless attempt at publicity.”

Not so, according to advertising agency JCDecaux, who explained to Deadline London that the poster’s placement was merely a coincidence, and that it had been taken down at that location at the request of French distributor Le Pacte today.

A rep for Le Pacte clarified that exact locations are not selected for the distribution of posters, and that there are more than 1,000 around the city right now.

The critically-panned biopic, starring Naomi Watts, took in just over one million dollars its opening weekend in the UK. It will open stateside on November 1st.
