Get To Know Your Celebrity Blabbermouth: Keith Hudson

Katy Perry's father Keith Hudson

If the name sounds familiar, his daughter “kissed a girl” and became an overnight singing sensation.

Yep, it’s Keith HudsonKaty Perry‘s evangelical, leather-clad and bejeweled cross-loving pastor father who loves to fill his sermons with pleas to help save his daughter from the hellish depths of rock star damnation, like The Sun reported in May.

While headlining their own church tour, Keith and Katy’s mom, Mary, reportedly called the “I Kissed A Girl” singer a “devil child” in dire need of “healing”: “They ask how can I preach if I produce a girl who sang about kissing another girl?” Keith apparently said to a crowd in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. “I was at a concert of Katy’s where there were 20,000. I’m watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church. I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They’re loving and worshipping the wrong thing.”

And if that wasn’t enough, the pop star’s dad also issued a public apology in 2012 after being blasted in the media for using anti-Semitic remarks in one of his sermons: “You know how to make the Jew jealous? Have some money, honey,” he said to a congregation in Ohio that sparked the outrage. “You go to L.A. and they own all the Rolex and diamond places. Walk down a part of L.A. where we live and it is so rich it smells. You ever smell rich? They are all Jews, hallelujah. Amen.”

He later insisted he is “not an anti-Semite,” adding in the statement to the Anti-Defamation League, “I deeply regret the hurtful and ugly language I used in my message.”

Amen.
