Following an appearance on Live! with Kelly and Michael yesterday morning, Emma Roberts got a craving for a cronut – you know, one of those delectable doughnut-croissant hybrid from the foodie god Dominique Ansel.
So she drifted downtown toward the heavenly sweet scents wafting from his Spring Street bakery in SoHo. There she found the usual line, which stretches two or three hours long. But Emma had no interest in waiting among the layfolk. So she and her publicist paraded to the front of the line, hoping to cash in on her star power for one the coveted pastries.
No dice. Alas, Dominique Ansel is a democratic establishment – they don’t care if you are Julia Robert‘s niece, you still have to wait on line like the rest of the cronut-crazed New Yorkers for a taste of the flaky treats. After being sent to the back of the line by the bakery’s doorman, Emma waited for a few minutes, before finally giving up, probably thinking, “I’ll just pay the $100 to buy one on the black market.”
Later in the day, Emma recounted her version of the events on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Luckily for little Ms. Emma, Dominique is a “friend of the show,” so Jimmy just placed a call and got “the last cronut” for Emma to try, live on television. Watch her first (and only) bite, below.
