“Top Gun” Director TONY SCOTT Dead At 68 After Committing Suicide

“Top Gun director TONY SCOTT is dead at 68 years old after committing suicide by jumping off an L.A. bridge.

Hollywood news tells us that the legendary director, who is famed for directing films such as “Top Gun,” “Beverly Hills Cop II,” “Enemy of the State,” and “The Taking of Pelham 123″, plunged to his death yesterday (August 19) off a Los Angeles bridge.

TMZ reports:

“[Tony Scott] jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island around 12:30pm. U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Jennifer Osburn said a suicide note was found in Scott‘s Toyota Prius, which was parked on one of the eastbound lanes of the bridge.”

Scott‘s suicide was witnessed by numerous boaters, including the passengers of a harbor cruise.

The catalyst that prompted the director to end his life is unclear, but according to rumors, he had just received news that he had been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.
